Lando Norris came first in the 2021 Russian GP qualifying
Lando Norris of McLaren F1 finished first in the 2021 Russian GP Qualifying to take pole ahead of Carlos Sainz of Ferrari and George Russell of Williams.
It has been a splendid last 14 days for the McLaren F1 team, only a couple of weeks back in Italy they took P1 and P2, courtesy of Daniel Ricciardo and Norris.
It was the team’s first win in almost 9 years.
Back to Sochi, it was Hamilton who was leading after his first run at Q3.
And just when he entered the pit lane to get ready for the final charge, he banged on the wall, damaging the front wing.
However, he did come out for the final charge but spun in the end, and that allowed Norris, Sainz and Russell to better Ham’s timing.
Max Verstappen reacts to Russian GP qualifying
Max Verstappen, who will be starting from the back of the grid, as he will be serving a penalty took to Twitter to react to the Russian GP qualifying that saw Lando Norris claim pole.
Verstappen, in fact, never took part in the qualifying since his team and himself decided to not take any further risks.
‘Super Max’ was quite amused by the qualifying result. Taking to Twitter he wrote:
“As I will be starting from the back of the grid anyway, we decided to take no risks and to skip quali. Quite an interesting quali result! It’s full focus on the race, in which I’ll try to fight my way forward and hopefully have some fun #KeepPushing #RussianGP”
