Max Verstappen started at P1 and ended up winning the United States 2021 GP and also the Driver of the Day

In one of the closest races this season, Max Verstappen held his nerve to win the United States 2021 GP at the Circuit of the Americas.

The Dutchman started at P1 after dominating the qualifiers. However, he lost out on the lead to Lewis Hamilton in the very first lap.

He regained the lead after a few laps. The Red Bull racing team then went ahead with an early pit-stop strategy which looked like it might come back to haunt them.

The last few laps turned out to be really frantic as a charging Hamilton cut down a 9-second deficit to almost 1.

With Hamilton hot on his heels, Verstappen held his nerve to win the American GP by just over a second.
