“Red Bull might not start the season as strongly”- claims Gary Anderson

Gary Anderson has claimed that Red Bull might not start the 2022 F1 season strongly

Red Bull had a historic 2021 season as Max Verstappen managed to win the F1 driver’s championship. The team will start the season with very high expectations considering their form from the last season. However, motorsport pundit Gary Anderson believes that Red Bull will have a rather moderate start to the season.

Moreover, Anderson has suggested that although Honda have pulled out from the 2022 season and onwards, they will have a major role in this year’s power unit for the Red Bull racing team.

Anderson said (h/t GP Blog):

“Red Bull might not start the season as strongly as it would like, but as in the past, it has the ability to work magic in terms of development. Honda will play a big part in that. Yes, it has pulled out of F1 for 2022 and beyond, but it has done plenty of work on this year’s power unit package.”

Nobody can deny the fact that Verstappen is more than capable of winning the title again. However, with the changes in rules and new cars for the upcoming season, winning back to back titles will certainly require a special effort from Verstappen.

It will be interesting to see whether Verstappen can build upon his form from last season and go on to win the world title in 2022 as well or not.
