Williams F1 director has claimed George Russell is no less than his new teammate Lewis Hamilton
George Russell has replaced the outgoing Valtteri Bottas at Mercedes from the 2022 season and onwards. The young Brit racer has shown immense potential so far in his F1 career and it is a great opportunity for him to show what he’s made off. It is safe to say that Russell is carrying a lot of expectations going into the start of his journey with Mercedes.
Interestingly, Williams F1 director Dave Robson has suggested that he is no less than his new teammate Lewis Hamilton. Robson said (h/t: motorsport.com)
“There is no doubt that he still has more to learn. Because working at Mercedes is a different story than working for us. But when it comes to his style and attitude, he is absolutely no less than these two [Hamilton and Button].”
Will Lewis Hamilton be there to join George Russell at Mercedes?
There has been a lot of speculation regarding Hamilton and his future in F1 thanks to the controversial ending to the Abu Dhabi GP.
The seven time world champion is yet break his silence on his future. It is said that Hamilton is awaiting the decision of the FIA and will decide upon his future after the same.
The FIA vowed to look into what happened at the end of the Abu Dhabi GP and were vocal about correcting the mistakes moving forward.
However, FIA haven’t followed up on the same as of yet. It remains to be seen whether Hamilton returns to the grid for the 2022 season and joins George Russell or not.
