Fred Couples began his amateur career at O’Dea High School. He secured a golf sponsorship with the University of Houston and won the Washington Open against Don Bies. In 1980, Fred Couples made his professional debut. Fred Couples won his first PGA Tournament Players Championship in 1984 against Lee Trevino.
