Sixth seed Carlos Alcaraz is set to take on Russia’s Karen Khachanov in the fourth round of the French Open 2022
Carlos Alcaraz’s form in the tournament
Carlos Alcaraz is seeded sixth in French Open 2022 and has certainly lived up to expectations so far. In the first round, Alcaraz defeated Argentina’s Juan Ignacio Londero in straight sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-0. The teenager then earned a hard-fought in five sets against compatriot Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the second round. The young Spaniard followed it up with a comprehensive straight-set win against 27th seed Sebastian Korda to set up a clash against Khachanov.
The Spanish teenager is having an incredible year. Alcaraz became the youngest ever champion of the Miami Masters ATP 1000 event last month. Earlier this year, Alcaraz won the Rio Open. The tournament was played on a clay surface, a good warm-up event leading to the Roland Garros. Alcaraz became the youngest ever ATP 500 champion after defeating Diego Schwartzmann 6-4, 6-2 in the final.
Karen Khachanov’s form in the tournament
Karen Khachanov has been pretty impressive so far in the tournament. In the first round, he defeated Portugal’s Nuno Borges before sealing another comfortable victory against Hugo Dellien in the next round. The 21st seed then pulled off a major upset 10th seed Cameron Norrie 6-2, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4. Irrespective of previous results, Khachanov will face an uphill task against the in-form Carlos Alcaraz.
