Coco Gauff and Martine Trevisan will lock horns in the Women’s Singles French Open semifinals on Thursday, June 2nd.
Teenage superstar Coco Gauff reached her first Grand Slam semifinal with a straight-sets win over American compatriot Sloane Stephens 7-5, 6-2 on Tuesday. The 18-year-old hasn’t dropped a single set during the course of the major clay tournament and has looked in sensational form at the French Open so far. Gauff had previously breezed past the likes of Rebecca Marino, Alison Van Uytvanck, Kaia Kanepi and Elise Mertens in the first four rounds respectively before beating Stephens.
Meanwhile, Martina Trevisan had got past 17th seed Leylah Fernandez in the quarterfinal to reach her maiden Grand Slam semifinal. The Italian began her tournament with straight-set wins over Harriet Dart, Magda Linette, Daria Saville and Aliaksandra Sasnovich. However, Trevisan needed two hours and 21 minutes to win 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3 in three sets against Fernandez.

Gauff and Trevisan met just once in the past and the match, which was two years ago at the Roland Garros and it ended in favour of the Italian. Our prediction is that the contest on Thursday will be exciting but given that Trevisan has more experience, she is tipped to win the match in four sets.
