Pedro Cachin will take on No.15 seed Borna Coric in the second round of the French Open
Borna Coric has come into this tournament at the back of a Semi-final appearance at the Madrid Open and a quarter-final appearance at the Italian Open.
It was a much-needed positive string of results for him after his poor run of form wherein he suffered first-round exits in four recent tournaments – Srpska Open, Monte-Carlo Masters, the Miami Open and the Indian Wells Masters.
His best performance before the Madrid Open came at the Dubai Tennis Championships in March, where he reached the Quarter-finals but eventually lost to No.3 seed Daniil Medvedev. Coric is yet to win any silverware this season though and he will be keen to put up a spirited challenge for the French Open title.
Coric registered a commendable victory in four sets in his first-round match against Federico Coria. He looked in control throughout the match and sealed a thoroughly impressive win against a tricky opponent. The job only gets tougher now though and it remains to be seen how far the Croatian can progress in the tournament.
Pedro Cachin is currently ranked World No.68 in the ATP men’s singles rankings. The Argentine has been in decent form recently but he hasn’t been consistent enough. He has made a good start to his campaign in Paris though, emerging victorious in a thrilling five-setter against Dominic Thiem.
The win is a huge confidence booster and Cachin will believe that he is capable of beating anyone on his day. However, it is important that Cachin brings out his A-game every time, in order to have any chance of progressing further into the tournament.

Coric and Cachin have never played each other before on the ATP tour. This is the first professional head to head clash between the two players. On paper, Coric is the favourite both in terms of form and rankings. However, one can certainly not rule out the promising Argentine and he is expected to put up a tough fight. We are predicting a close encounter but Borna Coric should prevail in four sets.
