The duo of Marton Fucsovics/Bublik will take on No.12 seeds Middelkoop/Mies in the first round of the French Open
Marton Fucsovics and Alexander Bublik are a new doubles pairing and hardly have prior experience of playing together on the ATP tour. Both the players are established singles stars and now they have decided to explore the doubles format as well.
Fucsovics and Bublik are playing singles at the French Open as well and it will be interesting to see how they manage the tight schedule of the singles and doubles draws. It also remains to be seen if they can complement each other well, which is a very important feature of the doubles game.
Middelkoop and Mies’ form coming into the match
Matwe Middelkoop and Andreas Mies are seasoned doubles players unlike their first round opponents. The pair is seeded No.12 at the French Open and have been in decent form coming into the tournament. The Dutch-German pair was last seen in action at the Italian Open earlier this month. They put on a brave display but eventually lost to top seeds Koolhof/Skupski in three sets. However, the pair have proved time and again that they are capable of beating anyone on their day.
Middelkoop and Mies will certainly fancy their chances coming into this encounter given the fact that their opponents are inexperienced as a pair. However, there is certainly no room for complacency on a stage as big as the Roland Garros. It remains to be seen how far the twelfth seeds can progress in the tournament.

Head to head and Predictions
Fucsovics/Bublik and Middelkoop/Mies have never played each other before on the ATP tour. This is the first professional head to head clash between the two pairs. On paper, the twelfth seeds are the clear favourites both in terms of experience and rankings. However, one can certainly not rule out the duo of Fucsovics/Bublik and they are expected to put up a tough fight. We are predicting a close match but Middelkoop/Mies should prevail in straight sets.
