Chile’s Nicolas Jarry will take on No.4 seed Casper Ruud in the fourth round of the French Open
Nicolas Jarry’s form coming into the match
Chilean star Nicolas Jarry has come into this tournament high on confidence following a title-winning run at the Geneva Open. He has carried his good form to Paris and made a great start to the tournament.
Jarry began his campaign with a comprehensive straight-sets victory against Hugo Dellien before pulling off a major upset against No.16 seed Tommy Paul. The World No.35 then went on to beat Marcos Giron in convincing fashion to storm into the fourth round. Jarry has certainly been a surprise package so far and it remains to be seen how far he can progress in the tournament.
Casper Ruud’s form coming into the match
Casper Ruud has been inconsistent throughout the clay-court season so far, but he has managed to put together a string of commendable results in Paris. He has had no noteworthy performances on clay this season before the French Open barring a Semi-final appearance at the Italian. However, now that he has got a good start in Paris, he’ll look to capitalise on it and progress deep into the tournament.
The fourth seed began his French Open campaign with a straight sets victory against Elias Ymer before registering another convincing win over Italy’s Giulio Zeppieri. In the third round, the Norwegian showed immense determination and grit to come back from a set down to defeat China’s Zhang Zhizhen. He will fancy his chances of progressing deep into the tournament but there’s certainly no room for complacency especially against a quality opposition like Nicolas Jarry.

Head to head and Predictions
Ruud and Jarry have never played each other only twice before on the ATP tour. The Norwegian emerged victorious in their first encounter in Seoul, 2022 while Jarry defeated him at the recently concluded Geneva Open and thereby the head-to-head stands at 1-1. On paper, Ruud is the favourite both in terms of experience and rankings.
However, one can certainly not rule out the Chilean star and he is expected to put up a tough fight. We are predicting a close encounter with Casper Ruud eventually winning in five sets.
