Switzerland’s Dominic Stricker will take on Argentine Thiago Tirante in the third round of qualifiers at the French Open
Dominic Stricker has been in good form of late and won the Prague Challenger tournament earlier this month. The 20-year-old is ranked just outside the Top 100 in the ATP men’s singles rankings and isn’t quite a regular on the ATP tour. However, he has dominated the Challenger Series this year and looks all set to take the big leap forward to the elite level.
Stricker has continued his good form in the qualifying phase of the French Open and has decimated his previous two opponents.
He began the campaign in Paris with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Jelle Sels and followed it up with another convincing straight-sets victory against Dalibor Svrcina. The ninth seed will look to maintain this rhythm against Tirante and give it his all to make it to the main draw of the clay-court Grand Slam.
Thiago Tirante’s form coming into the match
Tirante has been very impressive so far in the tournament. The young Argentine began the qualifiers with a commendable victory against 29th seed Rinky Hijikata. He then went on to earn a hard fought victory in three sets against Gauthier Onclin to set up a clash against Dominic Stricker.
Tirante has been in fine form at the Challenger Series level and he would look to make a mark on the ATP tour. This is a golden opportunity for the young Argentine and it remains to be seen if he can make it to the main draw of the prestigious Roland Garros.

Head to head and Predictions
Stricker and Tirante have never played each other before on the ATP tour. This is the first professional head-to-head clash between the two players. On paper, the seeded Swiss is the favourite both in terms of form and rankings. However, one can certainly not rule out the promising Argentine youngster and he is expected to put up a tough fight. We are predicting a close encounter with Stricker eventually winning in three sets.
