Gamescom 2021 – Biggest Announcements at the event

The biggest gaming had some pretty huge announcements We got to see some much awaited trailers and got some brand new games. Here are all the announcements made at Gamescom 2021.

Gamescom is a trade fair event for video games. It is held annually in Cologne, Germany. It is organised by the German organization called the Association of the German video game industry. Gamescom is the world’s largest gaming event in both exhibition space and number of visitors. It had over 370,000 visitors in 2018 and 1037 different exhibitors from 56 different countries. 

Gamescom 2021 is a hybrid exhibition event with online and live events. The exhibition area will have various different areas. They each will have a special significance to the development of games. The developers use this platform to release information and announce their new and upcoming games. Here are some of the announcements made at the event.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns

Midnight Suns is a tactical strategy role playing game developed by Firaxis Games. The game will have a customizable main character called The Hunter. Players can choose from over 40 different abilities. Iconic Marvel characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Captain Marvel and more will be available as playable characters. The game is scheduled to be released in March 2022. More gameplay footage will be revealed on September 1.

Halo Infinite

The console FPS shooter turns 20 this year. Microsoft has announced that they will release a special Halo Infinite controller and an Xbox Series X to celebrate the games anniversary. We also got to see the multiplayer trailer for Halo Infinite. According to the trailers, Commander Laurette Agryna will be the main character featured in the first season of Halo Multiplayer. The campaign and multiplayer mode for Halo Infinite will be released on December 8, 2021.

Elden Ring

We got the first preview and a glimpse at 15 minutes of gameplay of Elden Ring. The developers also released some details regarding the summoning mechanics of the game (spoilers: it doesn’t make the game easier). The in-game text for the game will be written by Miyazaki and not George R. R. Martin. The rumour mill was completely wrong about this one.

Saints Row Reboot

The studio has confirmed that they are working on a brand new Saints Row reboot and it will be released on February  25, 2022. The game will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The first trailer showed glimpses of the new city of Santo Ileso, inspired by the American Southwest.

Horizon Forbidden West

Forbidden West has been delayed since its original 2021 release date was postponed. But finally, Guerilla Games has revealed that Horizon Forbidden West will be released on February 18, 2022. It will be available to play on the PS4 and the PS5. The PS5 players will also get a patch that will enable players to play the game at 60 fps.

Call Of Duty: Vanguard

Activision released some new footage of the campaign mode of their FPS franchise. The trailer revealed the brand new campaign mode along with a new main character called Polina. We will know more about Polina’s story arc in the upcoming days.

Deathloop

Deathloop is scheduled to arrive on September 14. They released the final trailer for the game. We also got to see the actual gameplay. The game will be released for the Playstation 5 and PC.

TT Games finally released a gameplay trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. They also announced that the game will be released in Spring 2022. This is a complete 1 year delay from the games original release date 0f Spring 2021. 

Death Standing: Director’s Cut

The Director’s Cut of Death Standing will be released on September 24. The new trailer showed us some brand new items and features that they have introduced in the game. They have also  added some new missions that were not present in the 2019 version of the game.

Forza Horizon 5

Racing game fans are excited about the new Forza game. The game will begin by dropping the players from a helicopter on the game’s Gran Caldera volcano. The players will have the 2021 Ford Bronco Badlands. The trailers showed one other car, the Mercedes AMG-1. We got a glimpse at the setting for the game with dust storms and a jungle filled with flamingos.

Dying Light 2

Techland released a new gameplay trailer for Dying Light 2. We got to see more gameplay footage and some insane first-person parkour action. The trailer revealed some of the different factions that the player will have to face in the game. The gameplay trailer included a new grappling hook mechanic along with the different attacks that the main character will be able to do. The developers also revealed that Dying Light Platinum Edition will be available on the Nintendo Switch in late 2021.

Xbox Gaming

The Xbox Cloud Gaming service will be available to players on the box Series X|S in Christmas 2021. The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will have over 100 games for the Cloud Gaming service. According to Microsoft, their target is to get 1080p – 60 fps from this service. Fans are excited to see how Microsoft’s take on the cloud gaming industry will be executed.

Ghostrunner: Wave Mode

The developers have announced that Ghostrunner’s Wave Mode and Assist Mode will officially arrive on August 31. Ghostrunner: Wave Mode is a roguelike mode where the players have to get through 20 waves of enemies using the random upgrades provided by the game. For players who just want to experience the story and the in-game world, they can utilize the Assist Mode.

The Gamescom event had plenty of surprising announcements. Fans are excited for the release of all of their favourite games so far.
