Georges St-Pierre opens up on a move to the WWE

Published by

There have been some talks of UFC legend Georges St-Pierre moving to the WWE of late

Georges St-Pierre is one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time. The former welterweight king retired with a record of 26 wins and just 2 losses in his MMA career.

Despite retiring from the sport more than 2 years ago, the Canadian keeps himself fit all the time.

He recently featured as Georges Botrac in the American Television miniseries – The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. GSP is slowly looking to make a complete switch to acting. ‘Rush’ does have the charisma and personality to pull it off.

Elsewhere talks of GSP moving to the WWE have also been surfacing often. St-Pierre addressed this in a recent interview with Cinema Blend.

He said that it would be difficult for him to become a star in a promotion like WWE since he “wasn’t a physical specimen.” He compared himself to the Rock and Batista, explaining how they weighed almost 300 pounds.

St-Pierre then continued explaining how WWE would never bring out the best in him.

“I had a few thoughts, but the truth is, WWE and mixed martial arts is a different form of entertainment. I know Ronda Rousey has done it and she’s doing fantastic. But I feel like, to me, in order to be a star in WWE, I look at Batista and The Rock. They are physical specimens, you know? They’re like almost 300 pounds. They’re muscular and I’m not like that. Like, I’m not a physical specimen. I’m a great athlete, but you know, I’m not as flamboyant as them. . . . I think when I do something I like to become the best at it. And I know WWE would not lead me to become the best at it you know? So that’s why I choose mixed martial arts, and now I’m going into acting, and I put all my effort into acting.” [via Cinemablend.com]

Georges St-Pierre’s last fight was in November 2017

It has been more than 2 years since GSP retired, but it has almost been 4 years since the Canadian last fought professionally. A series of injuries since 2013 had prevented him from returning to the Octagon.

He finally returned at UFC 217 after more than four years away. GSP was scheduled to face Michael Bisping for the middleweight championship. He returned in style against the Englishman, as he earned a third round submission victory to win the MW championship.

That was the last time the world got to see GSP inside the Octagon. Trouble with ulcerative colitis forced him to retire from the sport, which he eventually did a few years later.
