‘The Greek Freak’ made his NBA debut on the 13th of October in 2013, when he was just 18 years old. He had quite an impressive season, ultimately being named to the 2013-14 NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
Giannis improved in leaps and bounds during his second year at the Bucks. His PPG went from 6.8 to almost 13 during the 2014-15 season. However, it was a quiet season for the Bucks.
The 2015-16 season saw Giannis improve even further, his PPG went to almost 17 this year. However, he wasn’t able to create a significant impact on the team.
In the 2016-17 season, Giannis took his game to another level. His exceptional performances earned him a spot in the Eastern Conference All-Star team, thereby becoming the first Greek NBA All-Star.
That year, Bucks secured a playoff spot but were beaten by the Toronto Raptors in the first round of the playoffs.
The next year, ‘The Greek Freak’ literally lived up to his nickname. He surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar that year for the most triple-doubles in Bucks’ history. However, the Bucks were eliminated by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs.
In the next season (2018-19), Bucks went on an unbeaten run of seven. Thanks to their new coach Mike Budenholzer and Giannis. Giannis recorded a career-high 52 points against the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Bucks went on until the Eastern Conference Finals and were beaten by Toronto Raptors, who would go on to win the NBA championship that year.
Giannis won the MVP player for the 18-19 season, only the second player in Bucks’ history to win the award.
He continued the 2019-20 season from where he left off. Giannis helped the Bucks earn another playoff spot, with his unbelievable plays. The Bucks fell to Miami Heat in the second round of the playoffs.
And for a second consecutive year, Giannis won the MVP award.
In the 2020-21 season, Gianna was on a tear and there was no stopping him. The Bucks went on to win the NBA title after beating the Phoenix Suns 4-2.
