Indiana Pacers’ visit to Milwaukee was one (player) sided affair as Giannis Antetokounmpo crossed 50 point mark 1st time this season.
Milwaukee Bucks are getting into their last seasons’ rhythm. They are a team to beat now once again, with Giannis Antetokounmpo sensing the postseason arrival (quit early though). The Greek freak that normally is the dominant force on the floor, scored 50 points against sorry Pacers.
Indiana Pacers were without any renowned center player in the team with Sabonis traded to the Kings and Myles Turner still sidelined due to a foot injury. Giannis took full advantage of the weak link and produced a masterful performance in front of the home crowd.
Interestingly his shooting percentage was as high as 81% in the game, banking 17 out of 21 attempts. He also grabbed 14 rebounds in the game, both stats well above his season average. After sitting in the game against the Portland Trail Blazers, Giannis Antetokounmpo made a huge comeback and it was a bad night for the Pacers indeed.
This was Giannis’ fourth 50 point game. He also became the 1st Bucks and 3rd in NBA to score 50 points, 10+ rebounds, and 80% efficiency from the field. Hall of Famers like Karl Malone and Wilt Chamberlin (4 times) had achieved it already for their respective teams.
Khris Middleton managed to chip In with 19 points and 8 assists in the game. The third star of the team Jrue Holiday scored 14 points and assisted on 8 occasions.
Buddy Hield also had a wonderful night personally, as he managed to add 36 points to the Pacers tally. But the rest of the team failed to make any huge impact to negate the Giannis effect on the game. Bucks won the game 128-119, and hold their third place in the East.
The Reigning finals’ MVP was always a threat to any opposition defense. But a team without the physical capability to cope against the Bucks’ giant needs some sympathy in reality. Giannis just easily strolled past defenders and attacked the rim on several occasions.
‘‘Obviously, it’s a nice feeling to have 50, you’ll always remember it, but I care about the win. I want to win games,” Antetokounmpo said in a postgame interview. He is obviously the team’s most influential two-way player at the moment.
He leads the team with around 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 1,4 blocks per game this season. Also, he stands 2nd in assists and 3rd in steals for the Bucks this season. Though the KIA MVP race this season is very intense, Giannis is one of the possible winners for sure.
Joel Embiid’s performances make a strong case for the KIA MVP candidate
