Why Watford must go all out to sign Paco Alcacer from Barcelona

According to a report by Sport English, Watford want to strike a two-year loan deal with Barcelona forward Paco Alcacer. The Hornets have already signed forward Gerard Deulofeu from the Catalan giants but the addition of Alcacer would only add more firepower to the attack.

The 24-year-old Spaniard moved to Camp Nou in 2016, following a summer transfer from Valencia. Since his move, Alcacer has found it hard to get a permanent place in the club’s starting XI. One can’t blame the young lad as Barcelona’s line-up consists of world-class stars like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Now, let us take a look at the reasons why Watford gaffer Javi Gracia must bring Alcacer to Vicarage Road.

Minimum Games And Maximum Impact

It’s never easy for a player to come off the bench and make an immediate impact in the game. But in the case of Alcacer, it is different.

The Spaniard got to play just 17 games for Barcelona last season, out of which 9 were as a substitute. But the young forward showed promise on the green lush, scoring 4 goals and assisting 3. His double strike against Sevilla last year helped Barcelona win the game 2-1.

Strengths

With an average passing rate of over 80%, Alcacer is known for his precise passes. His contribution last season is the best example of his abilities as he came up with 10 crucial passes, helping the team to a great extent.

The Spaniard’s ability to hold onto the ball for longer durations made the life of opponent defenders difficult.

Donned the national jersey since his U16 days

Alcacer has been a part of the Spanish side since his U16 days, tasting immense success as a U19 star. He was an integral part of the team that went on to win the UEFA European Under-19 Championship for two consecutive years (2011 and 2012).

He found the back of the net on three occasions in 2011 and two in 2012. Due to his potential, Alcacer managed to crack into the Spain senior team in 2014 and has represented them in 16 games thus far.

Verdict

Despite not spending quality time on the football pitch, Alcacer is an impactful player.

Hence, it’s best for the promising attacker to take up a loan move to Watford, where he has a good chance of getting more game time against some of the top clubs in the world. This will only help the youngster to gain more experience which will add value to his resume.
