According to The Sun, Jose Mourinho is eyeing a £107million January swoop for Juventus and Argentine forward Paulo Dybala. The Argentine has long been linked with moves to Barcelona and Real Madrid but the Red Devils are ready to splash the cash to beat the other potential suitors (h/t The Sun).
As The Mirror claims, Jose Mourinho would not hesitate to part with Paul Pogba and would be open to his departure, provided Juventus are ready to accept United’s bid for Dybala.
Manchester United failed to set the ball rolling in the summer transfer window, failing to land many of their major targets. Mourinho only managed to add three players to his squad but none of them has played any significant role in the current campaign so far.
The Red Devils have made a lacklustre start to the ongoing term with two wins and two losses from their first four games. While much of United’s woes have been down to their porous backline, the attackers have not hit the ground running either.
Although Romelu Lukaku scored a brace against Burnley, the Belgian has blown hot and cold in patches so far and the team has suffered heavily due to his lack of consistency. Considering United are yet to face the big guns in the Premier League, his showings against Burnley and Brighton haven’t caught the eye. Furthermore, Lukaku’s failure to convert chances could prove costly for United later in the campaign.
The Belgian has failed to convert from one-on-one situations and has missed the target more often than not. His finishing has been far from clinical and the 25-year-old has been guilty of squandering opportunities as well.
To make matters worse, Anthony Martial’s struggles with Mourinho seem to continue. The Frenchman has made only one appearance so far and the manager has clearly preferred Alexis Sanchez down the left flank. The Chilean hasn’t disappointed so far and has been quite lively in the final third.
Despite the fact that United have plenty of options down the left in Mourinho’s 4-3-3, the right flank has been problematic. Mourinho has experimented with Fred and Juan Mata in that position but none of them has made a significant impact.
And that is exactly why Manchester United need someone like Paulo Dybala in their ranks. A quick, creative and agile player with excellent technical ability, Dybala is known for his dribbling skills, balance, and close control in limited spaces. In addition, he is also well-known for his ability to beat opponents and either protect or hold up the ball with his back to the goal.
Due to his speed on the ball, positioning sense and intelligent movement, he excels during counter-attacks and at beating the offside trap when making attacking runs. A hardworking player, he is also known for his stamina and defensive contribution off the ball.
Dybala is capable of creating chances for teammates, as well as scoring goals himself. His vision, passing, link-up play and the ability to drop deep is truly commendable. To add to that, Dybala is an excellent set-piece taker and is quite capable of curling the ball into the net with his magical left foot.

Well, these attributes make him comparable to his international teammate Lionel Messi and United should make every effort to land the 24-year-old. He has shown immense potential of becoming one of the best forwards in the world and at 24, his best days should lie ahead of him.
