According to a report by German news outlet Fussball Transfers (h/t Football London), Leon Bailey has expressed a desire to join Chelsea. The report further states that the likes of Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Liverpool had registered an interest in him over the summer.
But it looks like the 21-year-old speed machine has his heart set moving to the Stamford Bridge in the near future. To be honest, the Blues must thank their lucky stars and wrap up a deal as soon as they can.
Bailey is one of the most sensational talents in the Bundesliga right now. He is currently plying his trade with Bayer Leverkusen but moving to a club like Chelsea could propel him to the next level.
As things stand, he is one of the most exciting players across Europe and he rose to prominence over the course of the previous campaign. That explains why he attracted the attention of some of the biggest clubs over the summer but now, the ball is in Chelsea’s court.
Maurizio Sarri’s men have made a good start to the ongoing campaign. There are some areas they must improve but straight off the bat, Chelsea seem to be in good shape.
The likes of Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho have also gotten off to excellent starts in the Premier League and Sarri could truly launch a solid title challenge with the team at his disposal. However, signing a young and promising star like Bailey could truly boost their forces significantly.
He has scored one goal in 2 Bundesliga starts so far this season, while averaging a whopping 3.5 shots per game. Now, Pedro and Eden Hazard have been incredible for Chelsea. They also have Willian but the Brazilian has not enjoyed the best of starts.
However, if needed, he can put in a decent display. But both Pedro and Willian are on the wrong side of 30. And as far as Hazard is concerned, he could be a transfer window or two away from a potential exit.

Hence, signing Bailey would represent an excellent piece of business for Chelsea. He would not only fit into the current set-up but he could also go on to become a long-term successor to Pedro. The youngster is equally adept on either wing, making him a proficient attacker indeed.
