Why Man United must make a move for Valencia’s Ferran Torres
According to El Diario Vasco (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United scouts watched five players during Valencia vs Real Sociedad on Saturday. One of the players in action was Ferran Torres.
Ferran Torres, 19, is an exciting young winger who made his first-team debut for Valencia in November 2017 and has gone onto make 80 senior appearances for the club since, becoming a regular under Marcelino and then Albert Celades. The Spaniard has made 24 La Liga appearances this season thus far, scoring four goals and assisting as many times thus far.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have been inconsistent so far this season as they lie fifth in the table. They are fighting tooth and nail to qualify for the Champions League next campaign and to boost his squad for the second half, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer added Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo (on loan) during the January transfer window.
Despite the presence of talented stars like Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba and even Mason Greenwood, United’s struggles in front of the net are well-documented. They have netted only 41 goals in 27 games, which is the lowest in the top six.
Solskjaer’s failure to replace Romelu Lukaku in the summer has cost them dearly this term and losing Rashford to a long-term back injury has affected the Red Devils’ productivity in front of the goal.
Martial still remains an inconsistent player, while James is in his first season in the top-flight. Thus, Solskjaer should add quality to boost his options in the forward department in the summer and must make a move for Ferran Torres.

At the age of just 19, Torres has made 80 appearances for Valencia. In 33 appearances across all competitions, he has netted five goals and registered six assists. The youngster has made 19 starts, chipping in with four goals and four assists.
The Spaniard has largely played on the right flank this season but is versatile enough to play on the opposite flank and as a centre-forward when required.
Verdict
Torres would add depth to United’s wide department, whilst bringing competition within the squad. Hence, the Red Devils should do everything possible to sign Torres from Valencia.
