Predicted Liverpool XI to face West Ham in the Premier League

Liverpool return to Premier League action when they take on West Ham at the weekend. The Reds have slowly gotten back to form with 3 successive wins. They won their last game in the Champions League against FC Midtjylland.

West Ham are also on a decent run of results when you consider the fact that they beat Leicester and held Spurs and Man City to draws. This game is not going to be easy at all for Liverpool.

Team News

Jurgen Klopp might be having some sleepless nights given how many of his defensive options are injured at this point. Virgil Van Dijk’s ACL injury means that he is out for the long-term. Joel Matip and Fabinho followed suit, which leaves Klopp with no dependable option in defence.

Thiago and Naby Keita are huge doubts for the game. Also, Oxlade-Chamberlain still remains out. But one bit of good news is that Alisson is back from injury.

Probable Liverpool XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Alisson (GK)

It was a rather surprising sight to see Alisson back with the gloves given he was expected to be out for a bit. Nonetheless, the fans will be happy that he has taken over from Adrian.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

Yet to produce the form we have seen in the last few seasons. Looks defensively suspect this season, while his attacking contributions have left a lot to be desired.

Joe Gomez (CB)

There will be a lot riding on the youngster as he remains the only senior centre-back in the side. Needs to step up in the absence of senior centre-backs.

Rhys Williams (CB)

It was Matip, then Fabinho. Now that both of the senior options are out, Rhys Williams is the only choice for Klopp. The academy graduate is likely to make his debut in the league.

Andrew Robertson (LB)

Another player who might need to curb his attacking instincts for this game. Robertson will need to close down the gaps between him and Rhys Williams.

Georginio Wijnaldum (CM)

Should be a welcome return as he would bring lots of energy into the team.

James Milner (CM)

With Fabinho out, Milner has been recalled into the team. A workhorse in every aspect, the veteran provides a good option in midfield.

Jordan Henderson (CDM)

The whole team will be looking at Henderson for inspiration during these tough times. He will have to rally his troops if they are to grab a win.

Mohamed Salah (RW)

Mo Salah just keeps scoring irrespective of the result. The Egyptian is on a good scoring streak and will hope to continue in the same vein.

Roberto Firmino (CF)

Firmino needs to start getting more goals and assists after being involved in just the last 10 minutes of the Champions League clash.

Sadio Mane (LW)

Mane’s impact cannot be understated. The Senegal man is one of the hardest working forwards and will be eager to get on the pitch again.
