Sonya Deville or Mandy Rose could be leaving WWE after SummerSlam 2020
Sonya Deville put on another great show on WWE SmackDown as she proposed something interesting on the show.
The Pride Fighter takes on former best friend Mandy Rose at the PPV, but this match has huge ramifications for the pair.
While that was a huge positive on WWE, there were a couple of spots that didn’t click on SmackDown too.
Misses
1) Hardy getting the gold
Jeff Hardy got the better of AJ Styles, despite having a knee brace after an attack earlier on the night.
He defeated possibly the best wrestler on the SmackDown roster and it made little sense why the belt changed hands tonight.
Hardy could have been made champion at SummerSlam or the next PPV. However, it was extremely weird how Styles lost the belt to an injured Hardy, but it did sell the dynamic that the Phenomenal One had become very arrogant since winning the gold.
2) LHP splitting up?
Lucha House Party had the chance to defeat the SmackDown tag champions but their effort fizzled out in a few minutes.
It seemed that WWE was pushing LHP after one of their members even battled Styles recently. However, Kalisto hitting out at his teammates indicates at a breaking up.
This is weird given that LHP have been enjoyable to watch together, and their effort to at least compete against the tag champions could have been way better.
Hits
1) Deville’s ultimatum
Deville vs Rose at SummerSlam will see the loser leave WWE. While this could see the Pride Fighter leave WWE after her kidnapping ordeal from earlier in the week, her promo was fire.
Deville and Rose both cut great promos but their rivalry has taken a new turn. Hopefully, the decision to leave WWE would be temporary and the pair can continue performing in the promotion after a while.
2) The Monster and Fiend set it up
While the opening segment saw Retribution attack Braun Strowman, the monster not only survived but took out a few SmackDown stars.
The Fiend is also on fire ahead of the showdown and his reveal from the ambulance was brilliant. Bray Wyatt is out, injured possibly, and this clash could be one of the best matches of the year.
3) Naomi’s time to shine
A few weeks back Naomi got a push on social media regarding her not featuring in the top storylines.
While WWE made her fight Lacey Evans several times, she did have a great moment on this week’s SmackDown.
Naomi defeated Bayley which had ramifications for SummerSlam. While this didn’t help Naomi in her chase for gold, at least it showed that the former champion is still a quality performer and she hasn’t been forgotten by WWE.
WWE could have just made sure that Bayley defeated Naomi slower than Sasha Banks did earlier in the night during a beat the clock challenge.
However, they took a different route, so credit to them.
