Predicted Manchester United XI to face Southampton in the Premier League

Manchester United return to Premier League action against Southampton after a successful European night. The Red Devils have managed to gain some momentum after stacking three wins on the trot. They swatted aside Istanbul Basaksehir in their last game.

Meanwhile, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have been one of the surprise packages of the season as they sit 5th in the league. The Saints have won 3 of their last 4 and will look to provide a decent challenge to the visitors.

Team News

Manchester United and Solskjaer will have a flurry of injuries to navigate through. Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are ruled out with injury. The other confirmed absentee is Jesse Lingard as he is self-isolating after coming in contact with a COVID positive person. Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka are also doubtful for this one after suffering knocks in the midweek.

Probable Manchester United XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

David De Gea (GK)

The big Spaniard has been in good form over the last few games and has made some good saves. Retains his place.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB)

Wan-Bissaka should be back for this one after being withdrawn in the last game.

Victor Lindelof (CB)

Another minor doubt but can be expected to make it to the lineup.

Harry Maguire (CB)

Captain Maguire has shown a bit of shakiness in the recent few games but remains one of their best defenders.

Alex Telles (LB)

The new signing has had to wait for his chances but with Shaw out, he has been given a chance. Impressive in his last two games.

Donny Van de Beek (DM)

Quite why he isn’t a regular starter at this point is plain puzzling. Another strong showing in midweek will only strengthen his case to be handed a start.

Fred (DM)

Impressive since being given regular chances and has not disappointed one bit. Will look to continue in the same vein.

Bruno Fernandes (AM)

The Portuguese simply cannot stop scoring or assisting. Will be vital to breaking down Southampton’s sturdy defence.

Marcus Rashford (LW)

The youngster is having a hot and cold situation and would like a few more goals to get back into his groove.

Anthony Martial (ST)

Should return to his natural centre-forward position after playing the last one out on the left.

Mason Greenwood (RW)

Greenwood might be thrown into the mix here after getting an assist in the last game. Without him, the team lacks a certain edge.
