Greg Biffle’s Wife’s Text Moments Before Fatal Plane Crash Is Both Terrifying And Sad

Greg Biffle Death: None Of Them Onboard Survived The Fatal Plane Crash

The Cessna C550 carried seven people headed to the Bahamas for a birthday celebration, planning a fuel stop in Sarasota, Florida along the way. Greg Biffle sat onboard with his wife Cristina, his son Ryder, his daughter Emma, Dennis Dutton, Dennis’ son Jack, and Craig Wadsworth. None of them survived.

The plane took off from Statesville Regional Airport, turned back attempting an emergency landing, and erupted into a massive fire when it hit the ground. Authorities haven’t released what caused the crash or why the crew tried returning to the airport shortly after takeoff.

Cathy Grossu told People magazine that receiving her daughter’s final text destroyed her. “She texted me from the plane and she said, ‘We’re in trouble.’ And that was it. So we’re devastated. We’re brokenhearted.” The grandmother remembered her grandchild Ryder and step-grandchild Emma as two kids who had everything ahead of them before tragedy struck.

Racing Community Mourns NASCAR Legend

Biffle drove 19 full seasons in NASCAR‘s Cup Series between 2003 and 2016, winning 19 races and finishing second in the 2005 championship standings. He also won the 2002 Xfinity Series championship and 2000 Truck Series championship, becoming one of just three drivers to win titles in all three NASCAR national series.

The families of all seven victims released a joint statement asking for privacy during their grief. “We are devastated by the loss of our loved ones. This tragedy has left all of our families heartbroken beyond words. Each of them meant everything to us, and their absence leaves an immeasurable void in our lives.”
