Greg Hamilton tracks back on harsh criticism of Lio Rush
WWE ring announcer Greg Hamilton apologized for his comments after former Superstar Lio Rush announced his retirement.
Rush made the announcement on Tuesday, after suffering an injury in the AC joint hampering his movement. The 26-year old announced that he would complete his tenure at New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) before he retires.
Hamilton posted on Instagram with a message which was deemed insensitive by all readers. He was quoted saying:
“Wow..unreal if we all didn’t have our own lives and families to take care of I just might pretend to give a f***. On to the gym”
After his post on the social media platform, Hamilton soon reposted with a lengthy apology for his hurtful statements.
Hamilton has been with WWE since 2015, as part of the developmental brand NXT. He has been various TV platforms in the past and used his fine skills in the wrestling business. It is fair to say that he understood his harsh comments and wanted to publicly apologize for Rush.
Hamilton also dubbed Rush as a ‘generational talent’ after his impressive performances in GCW, NJPW, and MLW.
The former NXT Cruiserweight Champion suffered a bad injury after making his debut at AEW Double or Nothing. Rush also had a good stint in WWE, where he managed the likes of Bobby Lashley. After Rush was released from WWE, he continued to impress on the independent circuit. He also got a chance to wrestle for two promotions at the same time.
The injury caused Rush to be in a constant state of pain and made him depressed. Rush was close to signing for AEW on a full-time contract. He will be gutted with the decision but made it in the best interest of his family.
Rush is seen as one of the best high-flying wrestlers in the last decade and we hope that he recovers to full fitness.
