Early life and introduction to MMA

In Abu Dhabi, he won the titles of professional world champion, jiu-jitsu world champion, and eight-time national champion. Along with joining the Brazilian wrestling cadet team and receiving Olympic wrestling instruction from Professor Waldeci, he also competed in the Pan American wrestling championships in Nicaragua, finishing in second place. He relocated to Rio de Janeiro in 2014 to begin his professional MMA career. He had passion and zest for jiu-jitsu and has gained a lot of fame for the same.

Gregory Rodrigues Professional career

Rodrigues began his professional career in 2014 and has since amassed a record of 7-2 while competing primarily on the regional scene in Brazil. He has won matches for organizations like ACB, where he won by first-round TKO at ACB 73, and Smash Global, where he won the middleweight championship by unanimous decision at LFA 71.

In the four-man tournament for the LFA Middleweight Championship, he would make his comeback to LFA. At LFA 102, Rodrigues faced Al Matavao in the opening round before eliminating Matavao. In the LFA 108 championship fight, Rodrigues defeated Josh Fremd in the first round to win the vacant middleweight title. Rodrigues received a last-minute invitation to compete in the UFC just days after winning. Everyone was excited to see him playing in UFC.

On June 5, 2021, at UFC Fight Night: Rozenstruik vs. Sakai, Rodrigues fought Duko Todorovi in substitution for Maki Pitolo. He received a unanimous decision victory.
