Predicted Manchester City XI to face Chelsea in the Premier League
Manchester City moved five points clear of Liverpool at the top of the table with a 2-1 win against Watford at Vicarage Road on Tuesday.
Pep Guardiola’s men will face a tough test when they make the trip to Stamford Bridge to lock horns with Chelsea on Saturday.
The Citizens are on a goalscoring spree this season, having already scored 45 goals from 15 games and the onus will be on them to continue their unbeaten run.
Team News
Oleksandr Zinchenko (broken nose) and Sergio Aguero (Groin injury) did not play against Watford in the mid-week game but they will be pushing for a return on Saturday. Vincent Kompany is struggling with a tight hamstring and is doubtful to feature against Chelsea while Benjamin Mendy and Kevin de Bruyne are ruled out with injuries.
Formation: 4-3-3
Manager: Pep Guardiola
Predicted XI
1. Ederson Moraes (GK)
The Brazilian made a fine save to deny Tory Deeney in the last game and has always been a reliable presence between the sticks.
2. Kyle Walker (RB)
The Englishman was back to his best against Watford and City will need him to continue his good run on Saturday.
3. John Stones (CB)
He put in a solid shift at the back in the last game and should find himself amongst the starters for this one as well.
4. Aymeric Laporte (CB)
Vincent Kompany picked up a minor injury in the last game and the Frenchman should be back in the heart of the defence against Chelsea.
5. Fabian Delph (LB)
His error in the last game led to a goal but Guardiola will have to rely on him if Zinchenko doesn’t recover in time.
6. Fernandinho (CDM)
The Brazilian put up a dominant display in the heart of the midfield against Watford and he will have his work cut out against Jorginho on Saturday.
7. Bernardo Silva (RAM)
He has always been a lively presence in the midfield and City will need him to be at his best against Chelsea.
8. David Silva (LAM)
The diminutive Spaniard is the heartbeat of City’s attack and he will be expected to spark that creativity in the final third.
9. Riyad Mahrez (RW)
The Algerian bagged a goal and an assist against Watford and Guardiola will find it hard to bench him for Saturday’s clash.
10. Leroy Sane (LW)
He has been in red-hot form in recent weeks and has found the net on a consistent basis.
