Predicted Manchester City XI to face West Ham in the Premier League
Manchester City return to Premier League action against West Ham on Wednesday night having won the EFL Cup on Sunday by beating Chelsea.
Pep Guardiola’s side were taken to a penalty shootout by Chelsea, but they were eventually able to emerge victorious at Wembley Stadium. Now on Wednesday, Manchester City will look to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League.
On the other hand, West Ham will look to stop the high-flying City after beating Fulham 3-1 last week.
Team News
Fernandinho and Laporte could be out of action for few weeks after sustaining injuries in the Carabao Cup final.
They join John Stones and Gabriel Jesus on the injury list, who have both missed the last two games through muscle injuries.
Probable Manchester City XI
Formation: 4-3-3
Manager: Pep Guardiola
Ederson (GK)
Ederson is City’s undisputed no.1 and will start against West Ham.
Kyle Walker (RB)
Regarded as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League, Walker is likely to retain his place in the team on Wednesday.
Nicolas Otamendi (CB)
Otamendi should continue in central defence after a solid performance against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.
Vincent Kompany (CB)
With injuries to Stones and Laporte, Kompany will be the natural choice to start alongside Otamendi against the Hammers.
Oleksandr Zinchenko (LB)
Zinchenko is slowly starting to looking at home at left-back and could be given the nod ahead of Danilo.
Ilkay Gundogan (CDM)
It’s a position Fernandinho bosses the game from, so Gundogan will have a task cut out in a deeper role.
Kevin De Bruyne (LCM)
De Bruyne is a complete midfielder who’ll be hungry to get on the score-sheet on Wednesday.
Bernardo Silva (RCM)
Silva is a very graceful player who looks to pick up little spaces and hurt the opponent with his incisive passing. The diminutive Portuguese is a certain starter in the midweek fixture.
Leroy Sane (LW)
With his blistering pace, unpredictability and movement in the final third, Sane will look to cause problems for the West Ham defenders.
Riyad Mahrez (RW)
With fatigue and injuries setting in, the time could be perfect for Guardiola to use Mahrez and rest Sterling for this game. The Algerian has blown hot and cold in his debut season at Etihad but he’ll be eager to repay the manager’s faith.
Sergio Aguero (ST)
Manchester City’s top scorer this season, Aguero is flying at the moment and could be too hot to handle for the West Ham defenders.
