Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev received much acclaim after they reached the final and semifinal of the Australian Open respectively

Former World No.1 Gustavo Kuerten feels Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev are the only players who can beat the “Galactic Three”.

Kuerten was speaking during a press conference at the 2020 Rio Open when he shared his views on who could overcome the dominant trio of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, whom he called “Galactic Three”.

The three-time French Open champion feels that if anybody could beat the “Big Three”, it could be Thiem and Zverev alone.

He was also surprised the three of them were still dominant in the professional circuit. Kuerten added that not many had the self-confidence to defeat Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic and that only Thiem and Zverev would give their everything to beat the trio of greats.

Thiem earns new recognition

Meanwhile, Dominic Thiem’s on-court exploits in recent times seem to be earning him new recognitions off-court.

He was recently named the new ambassador for the sustainability of nature by the Rio Open, according to the Indian Express.

The Australian Open finalist, Thiem, also shared his views to the public in his new role as an ambassador.

“Because of my education. My parents care a lot about the environment and wildlife, so I also got involved. And now that I’m a little bit famous, I try to spread good messages to my fans and the world.

“I try to use less plastic in my daily life. Try to eat less meat and animal products, which I think is important. I think the most important thing is to reduce plastic bottles, to reuse glass bottles, to use huge water dispensers.”
