In 1984, the Houston Rockets drafted Olajuwon. In his rookie year, Olajuwon averaged 20.6 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 2.68 blocks.
Playing for the Houston Rockets, Olajuwon won his first NBA championship in 1994 by defeating the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals. He was also the 1994 NBA Finals Most Valuable Player.
In 1995, Olajuwon again won the NBA championship by defeating the Orlando Magic in the 1995 NBA Finals. He was again named the NBA Finals MVP.
Olajuwon was traded to the Toronto Raptors in 2001. His performance with the Raptors was not that remarkable and by the fall of 2002, Olajuwon announced his retirement from the NBA because of a back injury.
