Maxime Cressy versus John Isner

World No. 41, Maxime Cressy could not progress beyond the second round of the recently-concluded Wimbledon Championships. However, the 25-year-old has been in good form in the Newport 2022 competition. He defeated Mitchell Krueger in straight sets in the Round of 16 to progress to the quarterfinals. The quarter-final clash with Steve Johnson was expected to be a tough one for Cressy but he held his nerves to defeat the veteran after dropping the first set.

The 37-year-old John Isner recently broke the all-time record for serving aces during his third-round match against Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon. He went past Croatia’s Ivo Karlovic who had sent across 13,728 serves that could not be touched. Now he is eyeing his 17th singles title. World No. 22, Isner, eased past Peter Gojowczyk in straight sets in the first match. However, the quarterfinal match against Benjamin Bonzi turned out to be a pulsating affair. All three sets were decided after tiebreakers and the experienced campaigner got the hard-fought victory in the end.

Head-to-Head: 1-0, in favor of Maxime Cressy

Prediction: Maxime Cressy to win in three sets

Jason Kubler versus Alexander Bublik

The Australian tennis pro, Jason Kubler, has been in fine form this season. He won consecutive M25 Canberra titles in March. A win at Little Rock Open in May gave him his seventh ATP Challenger tour title. Kubler will be confident of going the distance at this competition after a decent performance at Wimbledon where he reached the quarterfinal stage before losing to the world No. 13 Taylor Fritz. As far as the Hall of Fame Open is concerned, Kubler defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Round of 16 in a three-set thriller. The 29-year-old needed only two sets to win his quarterfinal match against eighth seed James Duckworth.

The promising Alexander Bublik has shown glimpses of his talent on a number of occasions. Bublik had a triumphant Open Sud de France campaign. He would be hopeful of winning the silverware in the ongoing competition. Bublik took on Jack Sock in the Round of 16 and defeated the American 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. The 25-year-old had a stern test awaiting him in the semifinals. He squared off against the three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray. The youngster passed the test with flying colors, ousting the veteran in straight sets.

Head-to-Head: 0-0

Prediction: We are backing Jason Kubler to win in three sets
