Here’s a look at the Halle Open 2022 final preview between Daniil Medvedev vs Hubert Hurkacz which takes place on Sunday, June 19th.
Daniil Medvedev beat local boy Oscar Otte 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 in the semifinals to march onto the final hurdle of the competition. The Russian has now entered the final of the Halle Open without having lost a single set. The World No.1 began the German tournament with a 6-3, 6-2 win over David Goffin in the opening round and followed it with a 7-6, 6-3 victory over Ilya Ivashka in the last 16. He then managed to beat Roberto Bautista Agut in their fourth meeting in the quarterfinal, beating the Spaniard 6-2, 6-4.
Meanwhile, Hubert Hurkacz has also looked extremely strong this season. The Pole came out on top in his 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-4) victory over Nick Kyrgios in the semifinal after two hours and five minutes. Hurkacz eased past Maxime Cressy in the first round, and then beat defending champion Ugo Humbert in the following round before edging out Felix Auger-Aliassime in two tiebreaks in the quarterfinal. He will now face a tough task in the final on Sunday in the form of Medvedev.
