Alexander Bublik

This promises to be an intriguing match. Alexander Bublik suffered a heartbreaking loss in the finals of the Hall of Fame Championships against Maxime Cressy. Bublik won the first set convincingly and it seemed as if the promising player would finish the match in straight sets, but the American had different ideas. Cressy came out all guns blazing in the second set and won it in quick time. The third set was a closely-contested affair and it was decided in the tie-breaker. The match ended 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) in favor of Cressy.

It’s a quick turnaround for Bublik as he would have to forget the past and focus on what lies ahead. The 2022 Open Sud de France champion will face a stern task as he takes on the world No. 8 Andrey Rublev in the first match of the Hamburg European Open.

Andrey Rublev

The 2022 French Open quarterfinalist has been in fine form this season. He has won 29 out of his 38 matches and already lifted three titles. He won the Open 13 in Marseille followed by the Dubai Tennis Championships. His third title came at the Serbia Open where he defeated the legendary Novak Djokovic in the final.

Andrey Rublev was not able to participate in Wimbledon this year as Russians and Belarusians were banned from Wimbledon 2022. He did take part in the recently-concluded Swedish Open. The Russian reached the semi-final before being ousted by the Argentine Sebastian Baez. This promises to be an exciting match.
