Carlos Alcaraz is one of the star players who will be competing at the Hamburg European Open which has just begun.
The 22-year-old Austrian-born German player will have an uphill task in hand as he tries to topple the impressive Carlos Alcaraz. Kuhn is currently ranked 259 while Alcaraz is 6th on the list. The odds are certainly against Kuhn. He played in the qualifying round of the Halle Open. He made it to the main draw at SW19 this year with wins over Mate Valkusz, Cedrik-Marcel Stebe, and Rinky Hijikata.
The 22-year-old Kuhn’s campaign at Wimbledon ended in the first round itself after a loss in four sets against Brandon Nakashima. Kuhn will have to bring his A-game and then some to give his upcoming opponent a run for his money.
The talented youngster has been in scintillating form this season. He has only lost five of his 40 matches in 2022. He has also won four titles this season so far. His first triumph came at the Rio Open. He followed it up with another win at the Miami Open. The great run of form continued in the Barcelona Open where he enthralled the fans and notched up another championship win. The fourth title that he has won this year till now came at the Madrid Open where he defeated Alexander Zverev in the final in straight sets.
Carlos Alcaraz reached the quarterfinal stage of the French Open where he was ousted by Zverev. Another heartbreak followed at the SW19 where he lost in a pulsating quarterfinal against another promising youngster, Jannik Sinner. The number one seed will look to win his fifth title at the Hamburg European Open.
Head-to-Head: 0-0
Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in straight sets unless complacency sets in.
