Maryna Zanevska

The 28-year-old has not had a good season as yet. She failed to progress to the main draw in both the Dubai Tennis Championships and the Qatar Open. Her best performance came at the WTA 125K Saint-Malo where she reached the semi-final stage. Numerous first-round exits have also been sandwiched in between.

However, the Ukrainian-born Belgian player has done well in this tournament. She began her campaign with a good comeback win against Viktoriya Tomova. Since then, Zanevska has not dropped a set. She defeated Alexandra Cadantu-Ignatik in the Round of 16 and followed it up with another solid win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the quarter-final.

Bernarda Pera

The current world number 81 is enjoying a rich vein of form. She has won ten matches in a row without dropping a set. The 27-year-old claimed her first WTA title at the Hungarian Grand Prix last weekend.

In her first match at the Hamburg European Open, Pera convincingly defeated Elena-Gabriela Ruse. She followed it up with another comprehensive victory against Joanne Zuger in the Round of 16. Her dominance continued in the quarter-final as well where she defeated Katerina Siniaksova in straight sets. Pera has just lost 10 games till now and 8 of them came in two games. She is yet to drop a set.
