“Happy to come back” – Rafael Nadal claims Australia feels like home in Kia commercial

Spanish star Rafael Nadal is one of the favourites to win the Australian Open

World No.1 Rafael Nadal is happy to be back in Australia as he tries to win a 20th Grand Slam.

The Spaniard is one of the favourites to win the Australian Open this time, having picked up the trophy once in the past.

Nadal seems to enjoy the energy in Australia and spoke about it at length during a Kia commercial.

The Spanish star added that Australia also felt like home:

“An amazing place with a great atmosphere. Unforgettable moments, they are very passionate about the sport is positive. I’m always happy to come back.

“In some way, you feel a little bit like coming home.”

Special crowd at the Australian Open

Nadal had further words of praise for the fans at the Australian Open and claimed this affects the players too.

“Competing there is special because everybody wants to start well, the crowd is amazing, it was very emotional I think for everybody but especially for the players.”

Nadal finished by adding that he loves it when fans also become part of the match:

“I really love when the fans become part of the match and the fans are happy and excited. That creates an amazing atmosphere.”

The 33-year-old started his Australian Open campaign with an easy straight-set win over Hugo Dellien.

The Spaniard will face Argentine Federico Delbonis in the second round and should be the favourite for this clash.
