Find out: Has Joanna Jedrzejczyk been removed from UFC after her recent removal from UFC rankings?
Former UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrejczyk has been removed from the upcoming UFC rankings. The reason, however, is not because he is leaving the UFC but because of her inactivity in the company. Mike Bohn, a MMA reporter broke the news over his Twitter handle where he stated:
“Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s removal from the UFC rankings is due to inactivity, I’m told. She’s still on the roster and will be reinserted when she returns to competition. Likely around March 2022.”
Bohn has revealed the fact that the Polish fighter has been removed from the rankings because of her inactivity. He also revealed that Jedrzejczyk will be looking to make a return in the UFC by March next year. The rankings have not been updated as of yet, however, the new rankings will be reflected in this week’s update.
Jedrzejczyk last bout came in almost 19 months ago back in March 2020 when she took on Zhang Weili. The match has been etched in the UFC history books as one of the best title clashes ever and was even named the fight of the year 2020.
It is worth noting that Jon Jones has been out of action for even longer that that of Jedrzejczyk but he is still a part of the UFC rankings. It seems like UFC has different rules for different fighters.
Why has Jonna Jedrzejczyk stayed out of action?
Jedrzejczyk’s last bout came almost 19 months ago and she is not returning to UFC before March 2022. Whereas. her opponent Weili is set to make her second appearance since their bout at the upcoming UFC 268 against Rose Namajunas.
Jedrzejczyk is a part of the American Top Team based in Florida and because of the covid restrictions she was not able to fly out to United States for her fight. She made it known that she will not train in Poland without her ATT coaches and team. She claimed that she loves her team and will not enter a fight camp without them.
Jedrzejczyk’s return was earlier planned to be in October, however, this plan was pushed further till March at least. Meanwhile it has been revealed that she trains everyday at her home to keep herself fit for the fight camp.
Jedrzejczyk has been on quite a disappointing run in the UFC as of late, her loss to Weili was her fourth loss in six fights since November of 2017. With her long absence from the fight world, the Polish fighter would certainly come back mentally stronger and with higher aims for her career in the UFC.
There has been no revelations on who her opponent will be when she decides to come back to UFC, however, fans can expect a better and more lethal version of Jedrzejczyk when she enters the octagon again.
