Has Lars Sullivan been released by WWE?

Lars Sullivan has not been seen on TV for a while, leading many to wonder if WWE have released him

Lars Sullivan is no longer a wrestler on WWE. The officials confirmed this decision today, but is believed that he was released by the promotion silently in the last month.

It is also said that the promotion wanted to push him. Vince McMahon was apparently in favour of Sullivan being on WWE, but The Freak was a no-show.

He was scheduled to appear on RAW in January 2019, but apparently did not show up to the venue due to an anxiety attack. He then made his WWE debut a few months later.

Sullivan was pushed as a monstrous heel on the show. He attacked superstars such as The Hardy Boyz, Rey Mysterio, and Kurt Angle. Unfortunately for him, he suffered a knee injury in the middle of 2019.

The recovery span was around 6-9 months for the injury. However, his return to the show came more than a year later, in October 2020.

All of the confusion was put to a close earlier this week as WWE revealed that he had been let go by the promotion officially.

It is a loss to WWE because Sullivan had everything needed to be a great heel, despite being embroiled in controversies. The cause of his expulsion still remains unclear amid various rumours.

He was fined $100,000 by WWE over some inappropriate comments made on several forums and had to undergo sensitivity training too.

Sullivan did have the build to be a top star in WWE. However, his past certainly was something that attracted a lot of attention.

This, however, does not mean the end of the road for him. Sullivan is still just 33 years old and can still make a name for himself in several other promotions. Being an ex-WWE wrestler would only add further weight to his C.V. but there are some other facets he has to work on.
