The sole developer of the popular game Stardew Valley has announced his next project. Here is everything we know about Haunted Chocolatier.
Following the success of ConcernedApe’s acclaimed farming simulator Stardew Valley in 2016, fans have been wondering what the developer’s next project will be. The lone creator indicated that he was working on new projects back in early 2020, and on October 21, 2021, he eventually debuted his next project: Haunted Chocolatier.
Haunted Chocolatier was announced by Barone with a two-minute gameplay clip that features a compilation of various locations and situations. A snowy mountain hamlet and the titular haunting chocolate factory castle are shown in the trailer. Stardew Valley was a more humble game, according to Eric Barone, because it had your character living off the land and bonding with people and nature. However, Haunted Chocolatier, a video game, will “explore more fantastical possibilities,” with encounters that go beyond the usual.
Despite its pixel art style, which makes it look like Stardew Valley at first glance, Haunted Chocolatier is quite different. So far, the creator has remained tight-lipped regarding his future game’s premise. But we do know that you’ll be playing as a chocolatier in charge of a chocolate shop inside a spooky castle full of ghosts. You produce your own chocolate by gathering ingredients for your recipes, which you then sell once they’re ready.
The trailer depicts the main player killing beasts in the woods with a melee weapon and a bow and arrow, presumably while hunting for ingredients to manufacture chocolate. According to Barone, the game is more of an action RPG, with the chocolate shop serving as the main feature. To generate money, players may need to establish prices and choose the goods to sell for the day, although it’s unclear how deep the specifics of running the shop are just yet. The “haunted” element of the term refers to the fact that the chocolate shop appears to be controlled by ghosts.
Haunted Chocolatier has yet to be given a release date. In fact, ConcernedApe said that it has just been in production for about a year, so don’t hold your breath for a release date announcement anytime soon. The developer has confirmed that PC will be the first platform where the game will be available. But he does plan on bringing the game to other platforms.
Haunted Chocolatier looks like an exciting adventure that I can’t wait to get into. Stardew Valley is one of my favourite games and if you haven’t tried it out yet, you should go and check it out right now.
