Healthy dose of Karma for Randy Orton – Hits and misses from WWE Clash of Champions 2020

Randy Orton was attacked by several legends at WWE Clash of Champions 2020

Randy Orton vs Drew McIntyre was one of the top wrestling matches at WWE Clash of Champions 2020.

This was for the WWE Title and it was McIntyre who came out on top. The ambulance match was a big stipulation and McIntyre and Orton hit each other with everything they had.

However, this wasn’t a hit from this PPV thanks to some work from WWE legends. This was one of the low points from the PPV but there were some incredible ups too.

Misses

1) Missing stars

It was a shame that Nikki Cross, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler couldn’t feature at the PPV.

WWE confirmed that the trio were not medically cleared to perform. However, some reports suggested that this could have been due to the Covid-19 outbreak that took place recently.

Cross was to face Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s title but Asuka took her place. The Tag title match with Jax and Baszler was cancelled completely and hopefully, all three stars are safe and return quickly.

2) Too much interference

Orton vs McIntyre was never going to be a clean battle, given that it was an ambulance match. While both stars used a ton of weapons to get the upper hand, there was a lot of interference too.

Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Christian and The Big Show all made an appearance. Almost all of them attacked Orton too which led to him losing the battle.

This might have been karma for Orton attacking all of them. However, it showed McIntyre in poor light.

The champion needed some help to dismantle Orton and there will be questions regarding this win.

Hits

1) Uso not crazy

Jimmy Uso had to come out, hobbling and all, to save his brother Jey from a vicious beat down.

All this happened in the main event as Roman Reigns was taking no prisoners. The Big Dog wanted Jey to call him the Tribal Chief but his cousin wasn’t going to.

We saw a different side of Reigns and for all of Jey’s great work, he still couldn’t defeat Reigns. The result of the match might have been known but WWE got the storytelling perfect.

Reigns might be from one of the greatest wrestling families ever. However, he doesn’t care for that as long as he is the Guy and is the champion.

2) Banks statement

Bayley got a bit of a surprise as she took on Asuka while defending her title. Asuka had already been in action earlier in the night but Bayley needed a steel chair to get the DQ done.

While she retained the title, it was Sasha Banks that made a surprise return. The Boss attacked her former best friend with kendo sticks and a chair, and it will lead to the pair fighting for the title surely.

Banks returning is great for SmackDown and this rivalry. She has been excellent while teaming up with Bayley and the pair can now shine individually too.

3) Ladder match chaos

Sami Zayn, AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy are three of the best in the ring and they proved it early on at Clash of Champions.

A ladder match is always great but it is taken to another level with top performers. There was madness, risky moves, crazy skills and creative spots in this battle.

Zayn might have won the title at the end but all three men were the stars of a packed PPV.
