Leicester Opinion: Why the Foxes should beat Everton to sign Ryan Fraser?
According to a report from the Sun, Everton are interested in making a £20million summer swoop for Bournemouth star Ryan Fraser, with manager Marco Silva keen on bolstering his attacking options.
The diminutive Scotsman, 25, has enjoyed a fantastic season with Bournemouth. The 25-year-old has scored six goals and contributed 10 assists in 30 Premier League appearances this term.
The same report claims that Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe wants Ryan Fraser to put pen to paper on a new £100,000-a-week deal but talks over a fresh contract between the player and the club have so far failed to materialise.
Keeping that in mind, Leicester City should take an advantage of the situation and beat Everton to the signature of Ryan Fraser.
Leicester City have a new manager in Brendan Rodgers, who replaced Claude Puel last month, won his first game at home last weekend against relegation-threatened Fulham. Rodgers will aim to guide the Foxes in the top eight before reinforcing his squad over the summer for the next season.
It is believed that Leicester will give Rodgers £200m transfer kitty to rebuild the squad after Puel’s reign. If that’s the truth, then the northern Irishman will need to spend the money very shrewdly and try addressing every single area of the pitch. Investing on a creative midfielder won’t be a bad idea regardless of the squad having a wealth of attacking talent.
And Ryan Fraser would fit the bill perfectly at the King Power Stadium. The Scotsman keeps the ability to dribble past players in tightest of areas and is gifted with excellent positional awareness. He has very good pace, tremendous close control and also the vision to pick out a final pass in the opposition half.
Blessed with a wonderful technique and engine, the 25-year-old boasts an impressive passing range and has the knack of arriving at the right time in the box to score goals. Fraser might be known for his pace, vision and ability to score goals but his versatility to play in different positions make him an asset to have in the squad.
A very underrated player in the Premier League, the Scottish international is someone who always likes to get close to the ball and never hesitates to drop behind to help his teammates with defensive contributions. Brendan Rodgers likes to have players with a lot of pace, energy and technical skill, which Fraser has in spades.
Conclusion
Leicester beating Everton to the signature of Fraser is a no-brainer as the Scottish attacker would fit in perfectly at the King Power Stadium. Fraser will open up a ton of attacking options for Rodgers and given a different dynamism to the team’s play in the final third.
