WWE SmackDown had a few good segments on this week’s show but many just didn’t click
WWE SmackDown decided to do something different with one segment and it just didn’t work.
However, the main event was decent as it seemed to set up a clash for Extreme Rules. The PPV is to be held next week and SmackDown needed some rivalries too.
WWE SmackDown also set up a huge clash for a title next week and here are the hits and misses.
Hits
Cross going nuts
Nikki Cross seems to be a thorn in Bayley’s side. She cost Bayley a match recently and went crazy on Sasha Banks and her best friend today.
While Cross couldn’t get the win, she proved how destructive she can be on her own. Alexa Bliss tried to reign in her partner but if Cross becomes unhinged at Extreme Rules, we might be looking at a new SmackDown Women’s Champion.
The Artist Collective stands tall
Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura now have a direction as a tag team. They have gotten the better of the New Day in a few matches and destroyed the SmackDown tag champions on this week’s show.
While this was for the title, the match ended as a no contest. Nevertheless, it was Nakamura and Cesaro that celebrated at the end of the clash after putting Kofi Kingston and Big E through a table.
The two teams should meet at Extreme Rules and we could have new champions for these belts too.
Styles vs Riddle
Continuing the trend of setting up new champions, AJ Styles was shocked to hear that he would face Matt Riddle next week and defend his Intercontinental title.
Riddle already has a win over Styles, and the Phenomenal One sounded upset after the match was set up.
The Original Bro has highlighted that he wants a new title, and it will be interesting to see how things go next week.
