SmackDown decided to play the Money in the Bank 2020 match between Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt. This was done to highlight the history and rivalry the pair have before their Extreme Rules match, but this fell flat.
WWE might need to kill time without putting on matches but this didn’t work at all. They could have done another Firefly Fun House segment instead or even a couple of promos from both stars.
The worst bit of WWE SmackDown saw a Karaoke competition take place between four talented female stars.
For no reason, we saw them sing, when they could have been wrestling. Then we got Lacey Evans vs Naomi simply because the Southern Belle was upset as she lost the competition to her rival.
WWE trying something new isn’t bad but this was just useless. The four women deserve better, and it was weird why Dana Brooke and Tamina decided to do all this.
They were fighting for the title fairly recently and now are head-banging to songs on SmackDown. So weird.
The opening segment saw Jeff Hardy being ridiculed by The Miz and John Morrison. While that was fun, it was weird that Hardy ended up facing the Miz.
Hardy is to face Sheamus again and they brought up the entire alcohol segment from last week again. While WWE seems keen on exploiting Hardy’s substance abuse problems into a story, it is getting repetitive that they can’t focus on a proper rivalry and rather have Sheamus come on screen and distract Hardy.
