Who is Albert Lin?
Albert Lin is a 38-year-old TV presenter, University of California San Diego technologist and National Geographic Explorer. He is also an explorer and a TV host.
Albert was a student at UCSD. He studied for his bachelor’s and master’s degrees there and then obtained a PhD in material science. Since 2004, he has served as an advisory board member of Harvard Business School’s Digital Initiative. He founded the crowd-based analytics company Tomnod, which was acquired in 2011 by commercial satellite imagery provider DigitalGlobe
He is the founding director of UC San Diego’s Center for Human Frontiers, which aims to harness technology to augment human potential. Albert’s first project with National Geographic was Valley of the Khans, an exploration into Mongolia’s past.
A National Geographic Explorer is a scholar funded by the organisation to conduct research or an exploration project. Albert has not completely abandoned his love for studying and science, as he co-founded a company that uses video games to teach science to students.

Many fans have been wondering how did Albert Lin lose his leg? The details behind how Albert Lin lost his leg are quite gruesome. On September 26, 2016. Albert Lin had a major accident which resulted in his right leg being amputated. Albert was in an off-road vehicle accident which resulted in his leg bones shattering. Next his leg – beneath the kneecap – was removed and he was fitted with a prosthetic limb. This was after three weeks of deliberation of whether or not to “go bionic” in the hospital.
But his dedication and passion didn’t lead to the accident overcame his passion for exploration and you can see the image below of his new leg which helped him to surf, skate etc.
