WWE star Renee Young tested positive for Covid-19 which also had an effect on AEW
The wrestling world was in a bit of a shock after WWE star Renee Young confirmed she had tested positive for Covid-19 (coronavirus).
The presenter/commentator tweeted out that she was Covid-19 positive, and this was just part of her tough week.
WWE Backstage, a show that Young would host on Fox, was also cancelled, and she alluded to that too in her tweet.
This set off a lot of concerns across WWE as reports suggested that other in-ring talents had also tested positive for the coronavirus.
WWE recently allowed other performers to feature in the crowds, and that now seems like a questionable decision. The promotion hasn’t shared any details of who all are infected, however, Young is one of the bigger names in WWE, and this doesn’t bode well.
NXT went off without a hitch this week, but it will be interesting to see what happens on SmackDown.
Young was in close contact during the opening segment on Matt Riddle’s debut. She was with AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan before a lot of other stars surrounded the ring ahead of Riddle’s match.
WWE could see several of their top names affected, however, AEW has been hit hard with all this too.
Jon Moxley and QT Marshall were two names pulled out from featuring on this week’s Dynamite. Tony Khan of AEW tweeted that the pair had come in contact with someone who had tested positive for Covid-19.
When Khan tweeted the same, there was no news of Young’s positive result. However, it now makes sense why Moxley was not brought into AEW.
Moxley and Young are married, and she could have infected her husband, given how the virus has spread around the world.
Of course, there is no timeline of when Young was infected with the virus, and the pair should recover from this.
However, this could have affected AEW’s plans for Fyter Fest. The two-day PPV was to feature Moxley defending his AEW title against Brian Cage. That was one of the top matches of the card, and it will be interesting to see what is next for them.
Khan also tweeted that it was Moxley came forward and told AEW of his contact with Young. The AEW champion was praised for all this but Khan also posted some important information.
AEW tests all its personnel for the coronavirus, and Moxley ended up saving many from possibly getting the virus.
The promotion certainly is trying to do a better job than WWE with regards to the virus, and they have ensured that stars who could have come in contact with infected people don’t come to shows.
WWE cannot be completely blamed for the positive cases the company has received. Anyone could get the virus, especially in a populated country, and hopefully, all those infected come back stronger than ever.
AEW could lose out on the Moxley vs Cage title fight due to coronavirus. However, the rest of their card is packed with incredible matches and Fyter Fest should be an incredible watch.
