Bellator seem to have signed Usman Nurmagomedov and the rising star is related to Khabib Nurmagomedov
Dagestan and Russia will have another big name starring on Bellator as Usman Nurmagomedov has signed for the promotion.
Ariel Helwani tweeted the news that Usman had been aggressively signing prospects instead of older fighters.
Usman, who is related to Khabib Nurmagomedov, is 11-0 in his MMA career so far. His last fight was against Svyatoslav Shabanov at Fight Nights Global & GFC.
Dagestan has produced some quality fighters over the years and it seems Bellator will have one dominating the promotion.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is undefeated in his MMA career and has a record of 28 wins and 0 losses. The 32-year-old is the current Lightweight champion in the UFC and has taken on all comers.
However, Usman is better than Khabib. This was a statement from Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz, and it will be interesting to see how things go for him. Abdelaziz made this statement after Usman’s 10th win and it seems he is set for more.
“I’m telling you, he is actually a better version than Khabib. He is better than Khabib.
“I’m telling you, people should watch for him. He’s an absolute killer.
“He’s got it all. He’s got the striking, he’s got the grappling, he’s got the jiu-jitsu, he’s got the look, he’s got the swagger.”
Usman is the younger cousin of Khabib, and his 11-0 record has come in the span of just over three years. Usman has been trained by Khabib’s father and his uncle, the late Abdulmanap.
The younger Nurmagomedov has trained with Khabib in the past and 10 of his wins have come via knockout or submission.
Helwani added that many had predicted Usman Nurmagomedov would sign with UFC. However, Bellator seem to have captured one of the best prospects in the sport of MMA at the moment.
Usman certainly has trained with the best in the world and it will be interesting to see how he does against some quality fighters on Bellator.
The 23-year-old seems to have a decade at the top level left and there could be a chance that he goes up against Khabib.
