The Undertaker is one of the oldest active members on the WWE roster and is a legend in the business
WWE star The Undertaker might be one of the ‘old guys’ in the business, but he can still get the crowds packing into stadiums.
That was on show at WWE Super Showdown as he won the Tuwaiq trophy by pinning AJ Styles.
The Undertaker is also one of the oldest members on the current WWE roster and seems set to continue making fleeting appearances, especially in PPVs.
The Undertaker was born on 24 March 1964 and is currently 54. However, that hasn’t stopped him from being active in the ring and his last appearances have come on SmackDown.
The Undertaker’s real name is Mark William Calaway and this wasn’t the first gimmick that was used by the 54-year-old legend.
He had stints at WCW and didn’t use the Undertaker gimmick at that time, but that all changed in 1990.
Calaway was originally called Kane the Undertaker and his debut gimmick was actually that of a mortician.
At Survivor Series, he was Ted DiBiase’s team as a heel, and commentators forego the Kane part of his name.
That could be called as the real debut of The Undertaker in WWE, and that was the start of a marvellous run for the 54-year-old.
Taker has been part of WWE from 1990, and that’s almost 30 years of being at the top of the wrestling food-chain.
The Undertaker had attacked AJ Styles twice, first at Super Showdown and then at Elimination Chamber 2020.
The pair have now signed a contract to face off at WrestleMania 36. Taker last featured at the grandest stage a couple of years ago, and defeated John Cena at WrestleMania 34.
His next match should be a cracker, especially with AJ Styles doing his bit from the ring.
Age has caught up with the WWE star as he doesn’t wrestle regularly. The Deadman has had many personas and fights over the years and his greatest legacy was the streak.
The Undertaker had not lost a WrestleMania match in over 20 attempts and was 21-0 before Brock Lesnar broke that in WrestleMania 30.
That result shocked the WWE Universe and Taker was never the same again. He then lost again at WrestleMania 33 to Roman Reigns, and is currently 24-2 in his WrestleMania career.
Taker has defeated some top stars during his time in WrestleMania too. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton, Ric Flair, CM Punk, Cena, Bray Wyatt, Edge and Batista are just some of the big names he has fought.
Styles will be the next one to face Taker’s wrath, and it will be interesting to see how things go at WrestleMania 36.
