Want to know how to beat Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Cassiopeia? Just follow this guide till the end to learn everything.
Penny, also known as Cassiopeia, is the final boss of the Team Star questline in the Starfall Street of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Defeating her will award players with the completion of the Starfall Street story and the Draco Meteor TM from Penny.
The Draco Meteor move is a Dragon-type attack with a power of 130 and temporarily reduces the user’s Special Attack IV by two stages. This move is best used as a finishing blow when the opponent is sure to faint from the attack. The endgame TM can be crafted using Goomy Goo, Applin Juice, and Frigibax Scales.
After beating Team Star’s Fighting-Type Base in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, players can take on Cassiopeia, a mysterious figure throughout the game. Upon arriving at the Academy, players will first encounter Clive, who reveals himself as Director Clavell. He will try to convince players that he is also Cassiopeia and challenge them to a battle. Trainers must be ready to defeat both the Director of the Academy and the final boss of Team Star in an unexpected twist. Let’s see how to beat Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Cassiopeia easily.
Before battling with director Clavell. Let’s take a look at the Pokemon, their type, and their weaknesses.
Pokemon | Type | Weaknesses | Level |
Polteageist | Ghost | Dark, Ghost | Lvl. 60 |
Skeledirge (Player chose Grass starter) | Fire/Ghost | Water, Rock, Ground, Dark, Ghost | Lvl. 61 |
Abomasnow | Grass/Ice | Fire, Flying, Bug, Rock, Poison, Fighting, Steel | Lvl. 60 |
Amoonguss | Grass/Poison | Fire, Flying, Ice, Psychic | Lvl. 60 |
Oranguru | Normal/Psychic | Dark, Bug | Lvl. 60 |

As the Director of the Academy in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Clavell is a difficult opponent to beat. As a trainer, players will need to do a lot of hard work to defeat him. Clavell does not specialize in a specific type of Pokemon, so players will need to use their team member’s unique strengths. The biggest challenge during battle will be Clavell’s ace Pokemon, which can be Meowscarada, Skeledirge, or Quaquaval, depending on the player’s starter Pokemon’s weakness. The rest of Clavell’s team is the same regardless of the player’s starter Pokemon.
Director Clavell’s team in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, consisting of Oranguru, Gyarados, Abomasnow, Amoonguss, Polteageist, and one of Paldea’s starter Pokemon, will make battling the gym leaders seem easy. To defeat the Director, trainers should ensure their Pokemon can counter their own weaknesses.
For example, if a trainer chose Sprigatito, they will likely face Meowscarada, a Grass/Dark-type in battle. In this case, Clavell will have a Skeledirge on his team. To counter this Fire/Ghost-type, trainers can use a strong Dark-type move like Night Slash or teach Meowscarada the move Power Gem, a special Rock-type attack with a base power of 80.
After defeating Director Clavell in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, players can battle the true Cassiopeia in the schoolyard. To reach the location, players must access the computer at the main desk inside the Academy, and then fast travel to the schoolyard. Once there, Cassiopeia reveals herself to be Penny, the Eevee enthusiast that players defended at the start of their journey. Fittingly, Penny’s team consists of various Eevee evolutions, and players must again strategically target the diverse team’s weaknesses.
Pokemon | Type | Weaknesses | Level |
Sylveon | Fairy, Fairy Tera-type | Poison, Steel | Lvl. 63 |
Jolteon | Electric | Ground | Lvl. 62 |
Umbreon | Dark | Bug, Fighting, Fairy | Lvl. 62 |
Flareon | Fire | Water, Rock, Ground | Lvl. 62 |
Vaporeon | Water | Grass, Electric | Lvl. 62 |
Leafeon | Grass | Fire, Bug, Flying, Ice, Poison | Lvl. 62 |
While Penny’s team in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet doesn’t include all the Eeveelutions, it does feature some of the strongest like Umbreon, a defensive Dark-type, and Jolteon, a lightning-fast Electric-type sweeper. However, Penny’s most powerful Pokemon is the last on her team, a Sylveon with a traditional Fairy Tera-type.
Each Pokemon of her team has different strengths and Penny tends to use the move Baby-Doll Eyes, a priority status move that lowers the opponent’s attack stat. Players can effectively counter this tactic by using super-effective special attacks, secure their win against Team Star’s final boss, and pave the way to challenge the Elite Four in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
In conclusion, beating Cassiopeia in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet requires strategic planning and a well-rounded team. As the final boss of Team Star in the Starfall Street questline, Cassiopeia, also known as Penny, is a formidable opponent. Players should ensure that their Pokémon can counter their own weaknesses and use super-effective special attacks to combat Cassiopeia’s team’s strengths, such as her use of Baby-Doll Eyes.
By defeating Cassiopeia, players will not only complete the Starfall Street story but also be rewarded with the Draco Meteor TM. Additionally, players will have the opportunity to challenge the Elite Four and become the Pokémon champion of the game.
