Medusa, a very strong boss featured in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, is a classic representation of Greek mythology. However, players will need to be at least level 46 before trying to defeat her, as she serves as a challenging end-game boss. For those who wish to test their skills against her on the island of Lesbos, our guide on how to defeat Medusa can assist in making the battle a bit easier.

Gameplay

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Medusa Location

The journey to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Medusa begins in the town of Eresos in the Petrified Valley on Lesbos. Look for a quest called “Romancing the Stone Garden.” This quest involves a woman whose lover has ventured too deep into the Petrified Temple within the Petrified Forest located in the Petrified Valley.

As she rushes to the Temple, you will need to address those who believe she has sacrificed her lover to Medusa, also known as the “Writhing Dread.” Once this is resolved, you will then meet Bryce in the temple where she is hiding. Follow her to their romantic rendezvous spot, the Dread Ruins, located in the Petrified Forest.

To enter Medusa’s lair in the Petrified Temple, you will need to obtain a key. You can speak to a mercenary who claims to have already killed Medusa, but in reality, he did not even make it inside the temple. You will need to fight him to obtain his spear.

To acquire the key, you must travel to the island of Chios in the northern region of the Hunted Forest of Artemis. Once there, make your way to the Huntress Village and infiltrate their vault to obtain the key. Once you have the key, return to Bryce on Lesbos to face Medusa.

How to beat Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Medusa

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Medusa is a formidable opponent in battle. It is important to kill her mercenaries while avoiding her bubble shield. Be aware of her petrification attempts and dodge her lightning bombs to avoid her wrath. You won’t have an easy time, but it’s definitely worth it.

When her mercenaries are defeated, strike Medusa quickly before seeking cover behind one of the stone pillars in the arena. Be prepared to dodge her three successive lightning attacks, and use the pillar as a shield to avoid her petrifying gaze. Take advantage of this opportunity to shoot arrows at her eyes, while hiding behind the pillar.

When fighting Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Medusa, using high-powered arrows in combination with the devastating shot add-on can greatly increase the damage dealt, shortening the boss battle. Things to keep in mind

Medusa will use a variety of attacks throughout the battle, which can be countered by using the stone pillars as cover. Keep an eye out for the red circles on the ground, which indicate the area of effect for her bubble shield or other dangerous attacks. Stay behind the pillar to avoid these attacks, then use your ranged weapon to chip away at her health and ultimately defeat her.

The strategy is simple: repeat the process of attacking and dodging until Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Medusa is defeated. Once she is down, retrieve the hidden Piece of Eden from her golden snake hair. If you do get hit by her petrifying gaze, quickly shake it off and keep fighting. Be prepared for a prolonged battle.
