In God of War: Ragnarok’s main story, The Reckoning, Nidhogg is the final boss. This boss will appear rather suddenly when the player tries to remove Freya’s binding, specifically when the player tries to attack the roots of the World Tree.
There are four stages to battling the giant serpent, and she will not hesitate to use a number of damaging attacks. However, as they get larger, they fall more violently, and Kratos has experienced slaying dragons. We will tell you how to beat God of War Ragnarok Nidhogg easily so read this guide till the end.
How to Beat God of War Ragnarok Nidhogg
Phase One
During Phase One of the fight in God of War: Ragnarok, the player should not encounter any difficulty if they built for Strength early in the game. There will only be clearly telegraphed attacks to worry about, as Nidhogg is trapped inside a World Tear. Move back to one side while she prepares to bite or claw you, then rush in and beat her until she’s ready to attack again.
The real challenge begins when she reaches 85% health and is prompted by the R3 prompt. Sometimes she drops a short damaging field effect in front of her, but avoiding claw and bite attacks is just as easy.
Phase Two
Aside from Nidhogg’s old attacks, she also has three new ones, ranged fire blasts, and a tail slam that explodes after a few moments in phase two. Kratos drags Nidhogg out of the World Tear and into the open. Shields play a vital role in God of War, as you can stop the tail slam and stun Nidhogg for a few moments by double-tapping L1 between it and its explosion. Despite Kratos’ tremendous power, the battle is controllable if the player avoids attacks, parries, blocks what he can’t, and stops the tail explosions.
Phase Three
When Nidhogg has 60% health, pressing the R3 prompt on her stunned head will start Phase Three, when Freya joins him. In this scenario, players will be most attracted to ranged weapon throws and Light Runic Attacks, as Kratos will be kept at a distance by the boss. She will climb one of the three pillars around the battlefield, move between them, and use several different ranged attacks.
The player can occasionally stun Nidhogg during the tail explosion by using Sigils on the pillar to cause her to fall to the ground. When God of War: Ragnarok’s Heavy Runic Attacks start, the player should move quickly to reduce her health.
Phase Four
In Phase Four, Nidhogg is at 10% health and is given the R3 prompt. Until Freya places a sigil over her vortex stomach attack, Nidhogg is immune to damage. You then need to throw the Leviathan Axe in, break the immunity, and kill Nidhogg during the stun window. Congratulations, Nidhogg has died, and you can move on to the next level.
