Elden Ring is always known for intense boss battles. There are many powerful bosses, you need to fight against them in various stages. Some of the boss fights are mandatory, while the rest are optional in Elden Ring. Here comes another boss fight in Elden Ring, the one against Rykard who’s also known as Demigod boss. The boss battle against Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy is not mandatory, but players have always wanted to take on the Demigod boss.
Rykard is a unique boss, who appears as God-Devouring Serpent in the first phase, and in the second phase, you will battle against his original form which is Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy. Rykard drops Runes, and you can acquire Rykard’s Great Rune after defeating him in the battle. Though he’s an optional boss, you can always challenge Rykard to set your standards high. Rykard Boss Fight – Guide & Strategy
The battle against Rykard happens in Volcano Manor, Mt Gelmir. Rykard is an intimidating Boss, but still, players in the Elden Ring have beaten him a couple of times. Phase 1 Walkthrough
Phase 1 is against Rykard’s Demigod form which is God-Devouring Serpent. This phase will be held for a long time. God-Devouring Serpent, the snake-like creature that deploys plenty of moves and attacks, will have a tough time in phase 1. The boss is highly vulnerable against serpent-hunter, a powerful spear. God-Devouring Serpent is also weaker than Frostbite and Spells. You can use Mimic Tear and Sorceries if required. You can cast the spells whenever the boss completes an attack. Avoid his poison spells and snake bites, as they will damage your health.
The boss often keeps spitting poison. And deals heavy damage with a snake bite. Rykard lunges forward and unleashes a spin move which makes it really hard for you to block, but you have to quickly dodge to your right. The boss also uses a Sword and unleashes magma, a fireball, you can block them.
Unleash Frostbites and use your spear weapon to deal massive damage, try to reduce his HP until he collapses. You have to deal damage to stop him initially. Try to reduce his HP with Sorceries and other Spells. Reducing HP is your only option to stop his progress.
The boss throws massive fireballs and spits poisonous spells in the end. Block them, and continue attacking the boss with the spear. Never use poison or fire, as the God-Devouring Serpent is highly resistant to fire moves. You can go with Sorceries and other spells to deal more damage. Deal more damage to reduce his health, the boss is defeated after his HP goes to zero. The second and final phase against Rykard begins after this.
Phase 2 Walkthrough
The second phase against Rykard’s true form will be challenging again, here’s a phase 2 guide and strategy to take on the mighty boss.
Now Rykard comes to the battle in his original form. Rykard unleashes a spin combo, and he lunges forward with his sword, you need to quickly dodge to your left. The Demigod boss will try to grab, and also releases explosive trails. Further, Rykard uses the Sky Cleaver and Magma Leap abilities. Your plan is simple, dodge and block his attacks, use your spear to deal damage, and throw a sorcery spell to hamper his mobility. Rykard tries to stab and throw balls of lava, but you can just dodge them.
Then the red skulls from the sky are his next attack and he will use Rain of Skulls for this. Try to avoid getting damaged by these explosive flames. You can dodge, sprint, and run according to his moves. Beware of the explosive balls that he will throw after his HP goes below 50%. Rykard is almost down once you drain his HP to 50%. Then unleash frostbite along with a spell to deal more damage, keep attacking him with the serpent spear, and Rykard is defeated after his HP becomes zero. Make sure to check on Rykard, if he’s down on the ground, then the battle against Rykard is finally done.
Rewards
Just like other boss battles in the Elden Ring, this one is also an uphill task. With the right Strategy and Weapons, you can annihilate Rykard, the Lord of Blasphemy. After the boss fight is done, you can get Rykard’s Great Rune, Runes, and Remembrance of the Blasphemous as drops from Rykard, and return to your place. Then you can continue to complete the other mandatory boss fights in Elden Ring.
